Currently, there are two known standard thread pitches for an AR-15 barrel:
1. 1/2×28, for a standard mainstream (M4) AR-15 /5.56 NATO and .223 
2. 5/8×24 for other builds or purchased AR-15s in 300 Blackout caliber.
The AR thread pitch attached to an AR-15 barrel is one of the most commonly asked questions. The thing is, if you’re not sure about the exact thread pitches that match your barrel, you might need to try out a few of them to figure that out. There are many thread pitches that are likely to match perfectly with your AR barrel; some of them include 5.56 – 1/2×28 threads, 50 Beowulf – 49/64×20, .223 – 1/2×28 threads, .308 – 5/8×24 threads, 7.62×51 – 5/8×24, .224 Valkyrie – 1/2×28, 6.5 Creedmoor – 5/8×24, 6.8 SPC – 5/8×24, and .450 bushmaster – 11/16×24. So, you must constantly check the manufacturers of each thread pitch; it has a lot to do with how well each thread pitch matches your barrel. 
If you believe that you’re using 1/2×36 barrels and don’t want to spend money, you can easily test it with the 5.56/.223 firearm that comes with a muzzle brake or flash hider having 1/2×28 threads. When testing the barrel, start by threading it on; it takes around 1.5 turns before finally getting stuck. If it worked out this way, then you must have 1/2×36 threads. But in a situation where it goes beyond that, it must have been 1/2×28 threads.

Put a cotton mop on the cleaning rod. Use a few drops of lubricant and run it through the bore, leaving a thin coating of gun oil on the inner part.

1. Clean Your Firearm

Your firearm has probably been through a lot of corrosion after chilling indoors after the last hunting season. In such a state, it is not suitable for hunting. The carbon buildup in the barrels can affect your aim due to airflow changes in the brake ports. So, if you want to improve your aim in the field, you need to give your firearm a thorough cleaning.
Besides improving shooting accuracy, firearm cleaning is also essential to guarantee safety. So, you would want to clean your firearm to avoid the risk of an accidental discharge. To proceed with the cleaning process, you should obtain the right cleaning supplies from your local retailer and read the manufacturer’s instructions. Does metal type matter when buying a solvent trap?

Like many ecommerce stores, products come in all shapes, sizes and materials. If the thread protector included with your solvent trap matches the thread pattern on your firearm, then it will work for cleaning, storage and/or transport! Firearm owners with larger firearms may prefer a larger solvent trap depending on their preference, frequency of cleaning, and the amount of cleaning solutions used during a single cleaning session.

Grade 5 titanium and 304 stainless steel solvent trap models will hold up better to corrosive chemicals as they are passing through higher grade anti-corrosive metals. What does it mean if metals are magnetized?

There tends to be some confusion regarding magnetic materials. Not all stainless steel is magnetic, but some stainless steels are. Aluminum and titanium metal grades are not magnetic. The only magnetized metals included with select solvent trap tube kits are the 304 stainless steel CNC machined storage cups. If our cleaning kits state this on the the product page, the product will includes these parts, which have paramagnetic characteristics.
According to this article: “Both 304 and 316 stainless steel possesses paramagnetic characteristics. As a result of these properties small particles (approx. 0.1-3mm dia sphere for example) can be attracted to powerful magnetic separators positioned in the product stream.”
Therefore, 304 stainless steels may show signs of magnetism when using higher powered magnets – but may only reflect subtle signs of magnetism when using weak magnets. This is a good test for grade 5 titanium purchasers as titanium is generally the most expensive type of metals.

How to Clean Your Glock Firearm

1. Take the Glock apart

  • Point it away in a safe direction and release the magazine.
  • Rack the slide several times to ensure no ammunition is left in the chamber.
  • Then pull the slide back and pull down its lock.
  • Remove the spring and the barrel from the slide.

2. Clean the Barrel

  • Attach a brush to the rod and run it through the chamber to break up carbon buildup.
  • Using the rod, run a solvent-soaked patch through the chamber and bore of the barrel.
  • Soak another patch in lubricating oil and run it over the external section.

3. Clean the Frame, The Slide, And The Recoil Spring

  • Use a clean brush to remove carbon and dirt from the exterior of the frame, the magazine interior, the rails, the spring trigger bar, and everything in between.
  • Soak a rag in the solvent and clean these parts again.

4. Apply Lubricating Oil

  • Apply a drop of lubricant to the end of the trigger bar, the guide rod, the back ends of the slide rail cuts, and the square shelf where the barrel’s hood locks up into the slide.
  • Use a patch to distribute the oil drops evenly around these parts.

5. Reassemble and Test

  • Reassemble your Glock by inserting the barrel, the recoil spring, and the slider back onto the frame.
  • Without loading the magazine, point the Glock in a safe direction and pull the trigger. Release the trigger and feel it reset.
  • If anything feels out of place, consult the owner’s manual to identify the problem.

How Often Should I Clean My Glock Firearm?

“Too much of everything is bad” is an adage that emphasizes moderation in anything, including firearm cleaning. Over-cleaning will not damage your Glock, but heavy lubrication can quickly become a problem if it gets into the firing pin channel. It will ease up friction so much that a light tap could cause a misfire.
Additionally, excess lubricant in your firearm can easily combine with carbon fouling and dirt from the air to form a grit, and you’ll need to take it out before it gets messy. There’s really no need to overdo it.

Cleaning Your Glock Firearm Can Be A Lot Easier
